KJFC Under 12 Match Reports

Tues 27th April - Blackpool Youth League

Foxhall 1 v 2 Kirkham Juniors

Kirkham got off to an excellent start and within the first 6 minutes had a shot cleared off the line from Conor McNeillie.  Kirkham enjoyed the passing football which provided Will Hughes with the ball well outside the area, who struck an excellent shot which ended up in the back of the Foxhall net to make it 1-0 to Kirkham.  Shots soon followed again from Will and also from Brandon Alexander and from a set piece James Barber headed in Kirkham's second.  Just before half time a free kick chance for Matty Neill went just wide of the post and a Jackson Ashworth shot was saved by the keeper.

Kirkham dominated the possession again in the second half, with shots coming in from Lewis Masters and Brandon.  Kirkham controlled the midfield and impressive defending again from James Boardman and Matty Neill.  Harrison Openshaw provided an opportunity for Conor McNeillie which was saved by the keeper.  Foxhall scored against the run of play, but Kirkham continued attacking with James Barber heading the ball onto the post from a corner.  Matthew Guthrie ensured Kirkham were the worthy winners with a fine save to keep the score to 2-1 close to the end.

An outstanding team performance, and an entertaining game of football.  Well done boys.

Sun 25th April - Blackpool Youth League

Blackpool Rangers 0 v 1 Kirkham Juniors

A good start from Blackpool put Kirkham on the back foot and a good chance was wasted by Blackpool early on following some good possession, making it difficult for Kirkham.  Against the run of play Kirkham got a corner on 10 minutes when Matty Niell put the ball just wide of the net.  Kirkham stepped up a gear and then with some better football the chances started to come for Lewis Masters, Brandon Alexander and Jackson Ashworth.  A series of chances then also fell again for Jackson and for Tom Gargett, and a long range shot from James Boardman, but none of them hit the target.

A promising start from Kirkham in the second half, playing some good passing football resulting in a save off the line by Blackpool from a header from James Barber.  Blackpool were defending well, and kept Kirkham at bay, with shots coming in from Jackson Ashworth and Conor McNeillie.  20 minutes into the second half the deadlock was broken with Kirkham forcing an own goal.  Soon after a scary moment from Kirkham was avoided by Guthers coming out of his area and heading clear.

A hard fought game, with Kirkham taking all 3 points.

Sun 18th April - Blackpool Youth League

Poulton Youth 0 v 5 Kirkham Juniors

A very slow start for both teams, and it was Poulton who got a free kick outside the box early into the half, which went just wide of the post.  Kirkham then stepped up a gear and on 15 minutes Lewis Masters opened the scoring with bullet shot from a corner.  There was a well worked team goal scored by Tom Gargett and soon after Matty Jones make it 3-0 at half time.

The second half however was all Kirkham, attacking and defending well and at times the football was outstanding.  With shots from Sully Bishop, James Barber, Matty Jones to name a few, but it was Harrison Openshaw who beat the keeper after some great flowing football and after some great possession, Harrison got his second and Kirkham's 5th, after an excellent run by Conor McNeillie.

An all round great Kirkham display.
