KJFC Under 14 Match Reports

Thurs 4th Sept  AFC Blackpool  1  v  2  Kirkham Juniors  -- Blackpool Youth League

Kirkham Juniors recorded their first win of the season. With a win away at AFC Blackool. Kirkham went behind in the fifteenth minute of the first half when the defence went to sleep allowing the Blackool centre forward an easy tap in at the back post. Instead of letting their heads drop the Kirkham team rallied producing the best football of the game with a sweeping move down the right of the pitch before Perry knocked in a deep cross over the Keeper for Hardwick to score, meaning the teams turned round at half time level.

The second half began with Kirkham taking the game to the home side with the ball being played around well throughout the team. The pressure resulting in another goal for Hardwick, his third in two games. Kirkham had the ball in the net for a third time from Dugdale, only for the referee to cancel he score out after consultation with the home linesman. A nervous Kirkham side began to sit deep in an attempt to secure their first positive result since the departure of the previous management regieme, inviting the tangerine clad side to attack them, but despite some close shaves with goal lines clearances and a couple of shots past the post they managed to hold on to take all the points out of the fixture.
